In a songwriting world where we often get boxed into certain formats and ways of saying things, this song is very different. It is poetic and thoughtful and ponderable. It takes on those moments in our lives when we and the people around us are confused and often inconsolable because of their personal situation or their interconnectivity with the world around us.

As the song says:
"What about my ears
And what about my mouth
And what about my gentle touch
Helps to warm your darkened night?

Often times, just having someone who will listen and talk to us and hold us....can help. Still, there are times when the weight of our confusions and doubts weigh down so hard and heavy upon us that they "smother us" and the people around us.

This song touches upon these ideas and the dedicated friendships that help us rise out of these moments of being frozen and overwhelmed.
